Avian flu detected in KZN farm
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Agricultural officials have culled 30 000 chickens in eNcome near Dundee in northern KZN after avian flu was detected at a poultry farm in the area.

Avian flu has already wreaked havoc in Zimbabwe's poultry industry where thousands of birds have died or had to be culled.
Spokesperson, Khaye Nkwanyana says surrounding farms in the Dundee area have been quarantined.
He's urging the public not to panic as chickens are still safe for consumption.
"As the KZN government, we want to tell the public not to fear, they must not panic. Chickens in KZN remain safe and they can buy their chickens and eggs," he says.
Earlier this week 20 000 chickens were culled in the Paardeberg region in the Western Cape, after the virus was detected there.
