The Automobile Association (AA) predicts that the price of petrol will drop by between 8 and 18 cents a litre, diesel by 14 cents and illuminating paraffin by 21 cents a litre.

It says this relief is a result of lower international oil prices and a stronger Rand.

AA spokesperson, Layton Beard, says it remains to be seen if the reductions will continue into the festive season.

"We are anticipating November drops 8 and 18 cents a litre for petrol, 14 cents for diesel and 21 cents for illumining paraffin."

"We certainly hope that these downward trends continue going into December. It's still early days to predict exactly what's going to happen in November which will inform what happens in December."

"But we certainly hope that there is a Christmas present in the form of a fuel price drop for motorists," he said.

The November fuel prices adjustments will be announced on Friday by the Energy Department.
