Autism Walk hosted in Durban
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Mikhail D Autism Foundation is today hosting a walk, drawing attention to the condition of Autism and its early signs.
The event kicks off at Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park at 1.30pm today.
The director of the foundation, Nirasha Dhaniram says there's still a shortage of services in KwaZulu-Natal - that support children with Autism and their families.
"We want to empower families and professionals to recognise the early signs of Autism so children can get onto programmes. We want to create a culture of acceptance and inclusivity for children and people with disabilities. Our main message coming from the iHope Foundation and my own journey with my son - is to create hope for Autism - as a mother and a professional in the field," she said.
There will be a one-kilometre protected walk - for children with Autism who will also be participating. Enthusiasts can enjoy the two-kilometre run.
