Authorities probing Umdloti crash

Investigators are trying to get to the bottom of the horror crash near Umdloti, north of Durban yesterday.

Seven people, including a pregnant woman, were killed following a head-on collision between a truck and a bakkie.
Emergency services worked late into the night on the M27 to try and clear the roadway.
The death toll from the crash has since increased to seven, with a man and woman dying on the scene after being pulled from the wreckage.
Netcare911 says several others were taken to hospital.
"A pregnant woman who paramedics started performing CPR on was tragically passed away," said spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

He says police photographers worked for hours after the crash documenting the necessary evidence.
