Authorities probing Cato Ridge factory fire

Investigators are looking into the cause of a factory blaze in Cato Ridge, west of Durban that took firefighters more than 12 hours to put out.

eThekwini Fire's Sbusiso Dlamini says they were called to the chemical plant early yesterday morning.

The flames seemed to have spread to other parts of the property from a storeroom.  

Dlamini says some toxic chemicals are stored there.

"The contents of the warehouse was reported to contain chemicals. The fire was contained. We used foam to suppress the flames," says Dlamini.

No injuries were reported.

"The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage."
