Auditors 'will handle Tansnat financial affairs'
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
eThekwini Municipality says a team of auditors will be appointed to oversee the financial management of bus operator Tansnat.
Bus services were disrupted in Durban yesterday when drivers went on strike after their salaries for January were not paid.
Drivers blocked the city's busiest highways with their buses preventing residents from getting to work and school.
The agreement also provides for the appointment of an independent adjudicator to address the monetary claims that the municipality and Tansnat have registered against each other to determine the exact amount owed.
This is the second such strike this year.
Last month, drivers embarked on a strike after their December salaries and bonuses were not paid.
The city has assured commuters that there will be no further disruptions following a signed agreement between them and Tansnat.
City officials say all outstanding salaries were processed yesterday. Bus services have meanwhile resumed.
