Attempted murder, hijacking probe into N2 shooting

Police say cases of attempted murder and hijacking have been opened after a truck driver and a conductor were shot on the N2 near Chatsworth this morning.
Paramedics say the men were shot multiple times. They were airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, yet another truck has been set alight on the N2 in Durban.
Police say the driver of the truck saw an occupant of a bakkie tossing a substance on the truck at the Umgeni Interchange last night.
The heavy duty vehicle caught fire but police say no one was hurt.

Yesterday - the ministers of police, transport, home affairs and labour met with trucking industry representatives in Durban - to discuss interventions to bring an end to the attacks.
Over 17 trucks were burnt in the province just this past weekend.
