Ashwin Willemse heads to Equality Court
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Former Springbok and SuperSport rugby analyst, Ashwin Willemse is approaching the Equality Court.
Last month, Willemse left the studio mid-broadcast - accusing fellow analysts, Nick Mallet and Naas Botha of undermining him.
SuperSport released a report on the matter yesterday after having brought in Advocate Vincent Maleka to review the incident.
Maleka has found that racism wasn't involved.
But Willemse, who chose not to be part of the review, insists racism was at the heart of the matter.
He is being represented by human rights lawyer, Nqobizitha Mlilo.
"It was going to be a fruitless exercise to participate in a process where we do not know whether or not the evidence that was going to be given by any of the parties would have been subject to being tested in cross-examination. The suggestion that we gave in the meeting is that this forum is an inappropriate forum and Advocate Vincent Maleka is not an expert on race relations," Mlilo said.
