A suspect has been arrested for the alleged rape of a UCT student.
The incident is said to have taken place at the university's Avenue House residence in Mowbray over the weekend.
It's believed that the student was attacked and raped while she was sleeping.
Reports claim that she was raped by a member of the Fees Must Fall movement.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk explains.
"A case of indecent assault has been opened for investigation. We have arrested the suspect and he will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court once charged," he said.
