Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal police are searching for a gang that held up staff and guards at a funeral parlour in Umlazi, south of Durban.
The heavily armed men stormed the premises at around 10am yesterday, while a security officer from G4S Cash Solutions was collecting cash at the premises.
The officer was accosted as he entered the premises but he was not hurt.
Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says local detectives are investigating a case of armed robbery.
"While they were inside, it is alleged that they disarmed the security guards and they took their firearms as well as cash after they forced the security guard to open the safe. They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. A case of robbery was opened at Umlazi police station."
Zwane says no one was injured during the robbery.
