Appliances, cash taken in Morningside house robbery
There's a search for a group of armed robbers who were involved in a shootout with armed response officers during a house robbery in Morningside earlier today.
Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen says the four robbers stole electronic appliances and an undisclosed amount of money from the home on Rapson Road.
He says they exchanges fire with the officers as they sped off in their getaway vehicle.
"Fortunately no one sustained any injuries in the exchange of gunfire between the armed suspects and members of another private security company.
"At this stage, the calibre of the weapons are speculative, however we can confirm that it was a pistol that was used. It is still speculative and will be investigated further by the South African police services," Van Reenen said.
