Appeal to ex-SAPS officers to re-enlist
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Former South African Police Service officers are being given the opportunity to rejoin the force.
The SAPS says there is a shortage of officers, including in its specialised units.
The SAPS says trained and skilled members who left the ranks of Constable, Sergeant and Warrant Officer are encouraged to re-enlist.

Police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili says they will be increasing their staff complement - particularly in the units of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences, Public Order Policing, Taxi Violence, Cold Case Investigation and Murder & Robbery.
She says retirement has contributed to the shortage.
"The successful candidates will be posted where there is currently a shortage.
"The SAPS is therefore appealing to former police officers who left the service with a clean record, had been appointed as members of the organisation in terms of the South African Police Service Act 68 of 1995, to apply.
"Prospective candidates must meet the requirements as outlined on the SAPS website. The closing date for applications is 31 July," says Muridili.
