Anticipation ahead of MEC Mchunu's budget speeches

Fighting crime, taxi industry issues and infrastructure programmes are among the topics to be tackled during today's Budget Vote in Pietermaritzburg.
Mchunu will deliver both his Community Safety and Liaison and Transport budgets today.
"We will also be talking to the auditing of our dockets, we will be talking to the rehabilitation of offenders and the reintegration into society of ex-offenders.
"All of that will be the highlights of what we are going to be talking about in the speech," he said.
Meanwhile the DA in KZN wants to see a definite plan on fighting crime.
The party's Rishigen Viranna feels the lack of monitoring of police services is a major problem.
She says they submitted the Community Safety Bill to the Speaker today for consideration by the Legislature.
"This bill will monitor police conduct, it will oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of the police service for more good relations between the police and communities and form a police ombudsman which will investigate complains against police inefficiencies," said Viranna
