Another mass shooting in Umlazi claims five lives

KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed five people have been killed in another shooting in Umlazi, south of Durban.

Authorities say a group of gunmen opened fire in a house on Esduardo Mondlane Road in W-Section on Tuesday night.
Three other victims were wounded and rushed to hospital.
Five women managed to escape unharmed. The assailants fled.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage and police are investigating.
On Sunday, six people were shot and killed in U-Section.
Community Safety MEC Peggy Nkonyeni has condemned the attacks.
'We are therefore calling for the community of Umlazi to unite and work with the police in making sure that we promote peace and stability. We promote safety and root out criminal elements in our township," the department's spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane says.
"At the centre of this is the proliferation of illegal firearms that are in the hands of our civilians and we call on our people to report all these illegal firearms so that police are able to proactively apprehend suspects before they even embark on any form of criminality.”
