Fuel is expected to cost more from Wednesday.

The Automobile Association of South Africa's Layton Beard says their prediction is based on unaudited month-end data.

The association released a statement earlier in which it said the weaker Rand and higher oil prices will be compounded by increases if fuel taxes that come into effect next month.

Motorists will pay an additional 15 cents for the fuel levy and 5 cents for the Road Accident Fun.

"Petrol is expected to increase by R1.28, diesel by 77 cents. These increases are due to strong international oil prices and an ever weakening Rand," he said.
