Another Durban swimming event postponed over water quality
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Yet another swimming event has had to be postponed due to the poor quality of the Durban waters.

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim which was scheduled for next month is on ice.
It's South Africa's biggest warm-water ocean swim challenge.
It was started by five NPOs, the Duzi-uMngeni Conservation Trust, the NSRI, Project Rhino, Singakwenza and WILDTRUST to raise funds for charity.
Organisers say they have considered all options and the safety of the swimmers comes first.

Environment activist Sanele Vilakazi from DUCT says it's shocking how things have been left to deteriorate.
"I think it's just sort of like a slow poison that in most cases, I don't think many people are aware of - I would call it a crisis in most cases in terms of deteriorating water quality within our water sources, most specifically for the natural environment."
He says the warning signs have been there.
"It is sort of a heartbreaking component, we should have seen it coming and we have been seeing it coming, but I think in terms of the voices and ears that needed to hear it I don't know it has taken so long."
