Another dog attack in PMB leaves man critically injured
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A man has been critically hurt after being attacked by two dogs thought to be pitbulls at a home in Pietrmaritzburg.
Medics were called to the Longmarket Road area by police who received the initial alert.
It's understood the 60-year-old had heard loud barking and saw two dogs attacking some chickens.
ER24's Russell Meiring says the man was rushed to hospital for further care.
"The dog has an intended intention and began to attack him. On our assessment we found that the man had a number of injuries on the head, chest and arm and he was in a critical condition.
"We immediately treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support intervention. Once treated, the patient was transported to Grey's Hospital for urgent care. We believe that the dogs were scared off by police after they fired a warning shot," he said.
This is the second dog attack in Pietermaritzburg this week. A woman was killed on Monday when she was mauled by her family's two rottweilers and a boerboel.
