Angry residents take to the streets in Marianhill

Major routes in and out of Marianhill near Pinetown were blocked by protesters on Monday morning, leaving many residents stranded.

Others who were trying to get to work have had to turn back and go home.
Demonstrators embarked on a service delivery protest overnight.
The protests carried on into the morning and spilled over into neighbouring areas.
Residents are angry at the ongoing power outages and water interruptions, with some in Mariannridge claiming they have gone days without lights and water.
