ANCYL to march on Absa in February

The league's General Secretary, Njabulo Nzuza says provinces, regions and branches will hold demonstrations at various Absa branches.

"Within a period of two weeks the ANCYL will mobilize thousands of young people to demonstrate against Absa," says Nzuza.

Nzuza says they will continue to put pressure on Absa to pay back the money it received from the apartheid government.

"The money that Absa should be held liable to pay should be used to fund free education and youth development," says Nzuza.

The league has expressed concern about possible conflicts of interest at state-owned entities.

Nzuza clarified that they were not claiming that Finance minister Pravin Gordhan or Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa are corrupt, but that they are merely raising issues around the lack of transformation at state-owned entities. The ANCYL believed the entities are being protected, due to the interests of 'white monopoly capital'.

"We have always said that for anyone to have been found corrupt must have been found by a court of law to be guilty of corruption. Only then we say that particular person is corrupt," says Nzuza.
