ANCYL denies reports on Ramaphosa's presidency

The ANC Youth League in KZN has distanced itself from claims in the Sunday Times yesterday that it will not be backing ANC number two, Cyril Ramaphosa should he seek the party presidency.
According to the report, a youth league delegation had a meeting with Ramaphosa while he was in the province last week and broke the news to him that current AU Commission chairperson, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is their preferred candidate.
Last week, Ramaphosa gave a Freedom Charter address in Pietermaritzburg where he praised and encouraged the youth league and danced with them.
Spokesperson for the league Kwazi Mshengu says the Youth League did not declare such statements.
"We want to put it on record that we never met with the deputy president on the issue at hand - the only time we met with the deputy president was when he was coming to address our Freedom Charter Forum and there was no subsequent meeting thereafter.
"There is no delegation that has met the deputy president on the issue," he said.
The party's provincial secretary, Sihle Zikalala says KZN has confidence in Ramaphosa.
