ANC top officials reveal preferred ANC presidential candidate
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
ANC spokesperson, Khusela Sangoni says senior delegates are at liberty to disclose their preferred candidate for president of the ruling party.
This after officials including Zizi Kodwa and Jackson Mthembu took to social media in the early hours of this morning to voice who they allocated their vote to.
Voting has been completed this afternoon and counting of the ballots that will reveal the long-awaited decision is currently underway.
It's a head-to-head race between Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma while the party's top six will also be announced.
"There's absolutely nothing wrong. Our constitution guarantees the right to nominate anybody and to vote for anybody. We must commend comrades like Zizi Kodwa who - throughout the process impartial largely because of the work that they are doing. They are all NEC members and they are all voting. This is the correct platform to voice those preferences," Khusela Sangoni says.
The candidates for the top six positions are:
President: Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma
Deputy president: David Mabuza and Lindiwe Sisulu
Chairperson: Gwede Mantashe and Nathi Mthethwa
Secretary general: Senzo Mchunu and Ace Magashule
Deputy secretary general: Jessie Duarte and Zingiswa Losi
Treasurer general : Paul Mashatile and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane
