ANC suspends seven councillors in Umzumbe municipality
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The ANC in KZN says it will send party representatives to Umzumbe Local Municipality on the south coast following the decision to suspend seven of its councillors.

They've been benched for attending a special council meeting on Friday to elect a new mayor.
The ANC barred its members from taking part in the meeting, claiming it was a plot by opposition parties to oust the current mayor.
The suspended councillors are not allowed to convene or attend any meetings of the ANC.
The party's provincial spokesperson, Mafika Mndebele, says the deployment of party representatives is meant to ensure the suspensions do not impact service delivery.
"People elected this councillor under a false pretence that they represent the community under the ANC, only to find out they are working with other opposition. The ANC will ensure that service delivery is not disturbed."
