ANC step aside: implicated members must update secretariat monthly on their case
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
The pressure is piling on African National Congress (ANC) members who are facing criminal charges.

The party's National Working Committee says it stands with the National Executive Committee on its decision for those with pending court matter to step aside or be suspended.
The 30-day deadline that the NEC gave party officials implicated in wrongdoing to step aside of be suspended expired last week.
Yesterday, the ANC confirmed that deputy chairperson of the ANC in KZN, Mike Mabuyakhulu, had written to the party saying he was stepping aside.
National spokesperson, Pule Mabe says the NWC received reports from the provinces on the status of the respective implicated officials.
"The NWC also received a report from the National Officials, through a team lead by the Treasurer General, on proposed terms and conditions regulating the participation and conduct of members during the period that they step aside voluntarily.
"The affected member must update the relevant secretariat on a monthly basis regarding progress with their case. The decision by a member to step aside will be reviewed by the relevant structure of the organisation every six months.
"The NWC instructed that the necessary letters must be written to the affected members implementing this decision, and outlining the terms and conditions regulating their participation and conduct during the suspension."
