ANC seeks legal advice on KZN high court ruling
Updated | By Steve Bhengu/Jacaranda FM
The ANC says it will first seek legal advice before deciding whether or not to dissolve the province's leadership.
The national structure of the ruling party met yesterday following a recent Pietermaritzburg High Court ruling that found the party's 2015 Provincial Elective Conference was unlawful and void.
The party's Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe, said he was concerned with the use of courts in order to resolve party matters.
The ruling party's working committee has also been assigned to put together a provincial task team to assist in organising a provincial conference with the date to be confirm later. Mantashe says they still respect the court's judgement.
"The court judgement that says the outcome of the 2015 conference is unlawful and void is accepted," he said.
"However while we accept it we want to check with the seniour council whether the interpretation of the clause is correct," Mantashe.
