ANC regional secretary sentenced for murder

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has reacted to the jailing of its
KwaDukuza regional secretary.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court has sentenced Musa Zondi to an effective 25-years behind bars for the kidnapping, assault and murder of a Kranskop man three years ago.
Zondi’s five co-accused were also sentenced.
ANC provincial spokesperson, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says while they are disappointed at the court outcome, they respect the judge’s decision.
“As an organisation that respects the rule of law, we accept the ruling of the courts and we will watch the process as it unfolds as we understand there is an appeal that has been put in place,” she said.
“However, we are going to be engaging with our structures on how to proceed on the matter in relation to comrade Musa leading the region.”
Simelane-Zulu says a decision will have to be made by the party’s leadership.
