ANC regional leaders on negotiation attempts in Folweni

The ANC's regional leadership claims they were shot at by some Folweni residents last night when they went to address them.
This was after stones were hurled at the leadership collapsing the meeting instantly without any solid resolution taken.
Yesterday, residents waited for more than five hours for regional secretary Bheki Ntuli to arrive to address their grievances.
This community has been protesting violently since Monday calling for the removal of the number one candidate in the run to be councillor.
Ntuli says it was only a handful of community members who weren't prepared to listen- disrupting the meeting.
"The person that they said is their preferred candidate couldn't make the 10% threshold needed to be part of the four people presented to the community.
"We did explain if they are behaving and everything is done properly, the province can perhaps engage with the region and see if we can include him and we then present them all to the community," he said.
Ntuli says due to the criminal element in the protests, they will be leaving the matter up to police now.
