"Time for playing, time for self-enrichment, time for opportunists is gone. It's now time for real people, who understand what the struggle is, people who understand where we want to take our society," he says.

The Pietermaritzburg High Court granted an execution order sought by a group called the rebels, for the Provincial Executive Committee to be dissolved.

The court also granted the PEC leave to appeal an earlier decision declaring the 2015 Provincial Elective Conference unlawful.

Dube says today's High Court ruling gives them an opportunity to talk about rebuilding the ANC.

"As long as I still see people sleeping without food, seeing our kids playing on the streets and not in a proper place, where they are safe and as long as we see injustice happening in our society, then the struggle is not yet over," he said.

Meanwhile, the party in the province has confirmed that it will appeal the judgement against its PEC.

It says the ruling has huge ramifications for the ANC Constitution and the functionality.
