ANC NEC meeting on Phala Phala adjourned 'to process report'
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting to discuss the Phala Phala report's findings amid mounting pressure for President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign has been adjourned.
A Section 89 panel found preliminary evidence that Ramaphosa may have violated the Constitution over how he handled the robbery at the private Limpopo farm.
"We decided that the NEC of the ANC should also be given the report of parliament that comes from the panel," says ANC Acting Secretary-General Paul Mashatile.
"However, the NEC, in its wisdom, today they decided that they would like that report to be given to the officials of the ANC first. The officials must process it, and convene an NWC (National Working Committee).
"Once the NWC is done, we will convene the NEC and we should do this before the 6th of December. So between tomorrow and Sunday, we will do all that."

Earlier, ANC NEC member, Zizi Kodwa said he was confident the party would be able to resolve the issue of Ramaphosa's political future on Friday.
The president's detractors were expected to use the meeting to push for Ramaphosa to step aside.
There was also a growing feeling among his supporters that he should stay on and contest the findings.
Kodwa said the ANC has always managed to find solutions to its problems.
"All of us were invited to this meeting, we are concerned that is why we are at the meeting. We want solutions out of this meeting. The ANC at any given point has never been at at crossroads and be incapable of finding any solution to any matter."
The president was not at the short meeting.
