ANC National List Conference to get underway

Party spokesperson Khusela Sangoni says the list conference is the culmination of a prolonged process of selecting candidates for the August local government elections.

She says the selection process took place in a transparent and democratic manner.

''You will remember that this process started in branches where branches of the ANC would have nominated their councillors. 

''They then went through a screening committee, then they were presented to the communities where the communities had to select their preferred candidate and then from there to regional and provincial conferences,'' she said.

Sangoni also explains what will happen at the national conference which takes place at the St George's Hotel in the capital.

''There will be reports that is received from the National List Committee that has been overseeing this process since its conception. The NEC will then rectify the final list of candidates to be submitted to the IEC,'' she said.
