The ANC in KZN says municipalities cannot sit back and watch as electricity costs pile up on residents already struggling to pay their bills.
The party's provincial leadership on Monday held a media briefing to share its thoughts on the energy regulator's approval of a 19% tariff hike for Eskom.
Provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo said ANC-led municipalities should reject this price increase. "
“We have also resolved that municipalities led by the ANC in KZN, especially those that are licenced holders including municipalities because they get affected by electricity disruptions.

"We are calling on them to take legal action against Eskom and (energy regulator) Nersa to seek for the court to review and set aside the unreasonable decision by Nersa."
In Gauteng, DA members and supporters dressed in blue gathered for the party's ‘Power To The People’ march on Tuesday morning.
The opposition group says it will demonstrate against the rolling blackouts and tariff hike as it makes its way to the ANC’s Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg.
