ANC launches countdown to elections in Joburg

The ANC's leader President Jacob Zuma criticised opposition parties saying they were formed out of anger.

Zuma endorsed its councillor selection processes despite being marred by controversy.

The ANC president also pleaded with South Africans to have confidence in the ANC and not to give up on them and ensure they are returned to power on August 3.

"Other parties don't even hear how the councillors are appointed. If the problem is not addressed before elections we will address them after elections but what is important is that people can refer to a system that is a system - a democratic system," he said.
