ANC lashes out at opposition parties over SABC ban on broadcasting protests

The ANC has lashed out at opposition parties over their reaction to the SABC's decision to slap a ban on the broadcast of footage showing the destruction of property during protests.

The decision was met with wide criticism yesterday with many accusing the public broadcaster of preventing the public from knowing important information.
Provincial spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says the party does not believe that there is any problem with the broadcaster's decision.
"The reason why some political parties do not support this approach is because for them vandalism, looting of state property and chaos in the country projects an image of an ANC that is weak, in crisis and is unable to lead the country," he said.
"Therefore it positions themselves as alternatives to the ANC," Ntuli said.
