ANC KZN's internal battle in court

The ANC in KZN goes head-to-head with itself again in the Pietermaritzburg High Court today.

Some members are seeking to have the party’s 2015 Provincial Conference’s decision to replace Senzo Mchunu with Sihle Zikalala as chairperson set aside. 

The legal team representing ANC members who are challenging the results of the leadership race highlighted a tweet that allegedly revealed the outcome of the election before the results were officially released.

They argued it was an irregularity of the highest level. 

ANC spokesperson, Mdumiseni Ntuli says it’s unfortunate that a fight between ‘family members’ has to be settled in court.

"The court proceedings have gone very well. Essentially, it's a battle within the family in the sense that those who have taken the ANC to court are themselves members of the ANC. It is correct to characterise it as an internal fight which is unfortunately at the level of a court of law, " he says.
