Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The ANC's KwaZulu-Natal chairperson Sihle Zikalala says the party's established a team that will visit the Imbali area outside Pietermaritzburg where a man, understood to be a member of the ruling party, was gunned down.
He was shot dead while walking home from an ANC meeting on Wednesday night.
Another man who was hurt in the attack remains in a critical condition in hospital. Zikalala says the political killings in recent months are a concern.

He made the comment in Durban yesterday while signing the provincial electoral code of conduct.
Zikalala cautioned against speculation, asking people to allow the police to conduct their investigations.
''This is a very, very challenging and painful experience in the movement. We are not going to allow it to continue.
''We will ensure that we work with structures and request the community also to assist us with information as to why there are such incidents and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,'' he said.
