ANC KZN calls for boycott of Woolworths amid Israel-Hamas conflict

The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal is calling for a boycott of Woolworths in the province.

The party's provincial structures say they want the retail giant to remove all Israeli products from their shelves echoing a warning made by the EFF on Monday.

At a briefing in Durban on Tuesday, Provincial Secretary Bheki Mtolo said they would also boycott other companies that have links with Israel.


"The people of this province must turn their back on Woolworths as they are buying foods from Israel companies. 


"We are targeting Israel companies, especially those that are producing agricultural products and have illegal operations ion the land forcefully seized from Palestinian people." 


Mtolo says they are planning to march in the Durban CBD on Thursday in solidarity with Palestine.

"Together we must demand the following: Lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. No amount of atrocities committed by the Israel apartheid state will silence and suppress Palestinian thirst for freedom, self-determination and nationhood . 


"No amount of violence directed at Israel civilians by Hamas will aid the course of the Palestinian people. When the ANC was involved in the arms struggle against the racist apartheid regime civilians were never the target of military operations."
