ANC expels Carl Niehaus from party
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Carl Niehaus has been expelled from the African National Congress (ANC).
Niehaus, a former spokesperson MK Military Veterans Association and a fervent Jacob Zuma supporter, was charged with six counts of misconduct for contravening the ANC constitution.
It relates to utterances he made outside the Nkandla home of former president Jacob Zuma in July last year.
It was around the time of Zuma's jailing for contempt of court after he refused to appear before the state capture inquiry.
Niehaus told a crowd at Nkandla that they must not allow the former president to go to prison, among other things.
The ANC's national disciplinary committee found that Niehaus brought the party into disrepute.
