ANC elective conference underway in KZN

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal will host its eighth provincial conference this weekend.
Proceedings got underway in Empangeni on the north coast this morning.
The party's national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe is expected to deliver the key note address.
The conference was meant to take place last weekend, but was postponed to allow the provincial and national executive committees to meet with branches.
Provincial interim co-ordinator, Sihle Zikalala says it is imperative that the ANC shows unity ahead of the 2019 elections.

"We have successfully convened peaceful regional conferences, which were characterised by a high level of unity and the appreciation for the need to focus on the immediate task facing the ANC and society. That immediate task is the transformation of the lives of our people," he said.
