ANC election campaign shifts up a gear

The Moses Mabhida Stadium sporting precinct is a sea of yellow, green and black today. Supporters have already begun gathering outside the venue ahead of the party's 2019 election manifesto launch later.

Thousands of buses and taxis are transporting people from across the country to Durban, as the ruling party kicks-off its election campaign.

Senior leaders have been drumming up support for the ANC across the province this week.

The ANC's 107th anniversary was also celebrated in Inanda - north of the city on Tuesday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed delegates at a gala dinner last night. He said history helps people identify where they have been, what they are doing and where they still need to go.
Meanwhile, the Moses Mabhida Stadium will be a hive of activity today, as the manifesto launch gathers momentum.

eThekwini Metro Police have implemented a traffic management plan around the stadium.

Some roads were already cordoned off last night -- and will continue to be off-limits until Sunday.
