ANC disciplinary hearing: 'expulsion a last resort'
Updated | By Portia Cele
The ANC in KZN says members should first consider amicable ways to voice their concerns within the structures of the party.
This comes as some members appeared before a disciplinary committee for opposing results that stemmed from the party's elective conference late last year.
Sihle Zikalala was chosen as the preferred candidate for provincial chairperson over Senzo Mchunu.
The disgruntled members alleged that the results from the conference were tampered with.
Provincial spokesperson Mdu Ntuli says members are being given a chance to argue their case.
He says expulsion from the party is a last resort.
"It will depend really on the merit of the case as well as whether or not the comrades who are accused are showing remorse or they are not willing to do so. Those are the principles that guide our disciplinary process.
"Essentially, it may vary from a suspension, depending on the gravity of the situation, to a point of expulsion from the organisation," he said.
