ANC councillors back in court for activist's murder
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapho
Two ANC councillors are expected to line up in the Durban High Court today in connection with the murder of a community activist in 2014.
Thuli Ndlovu Chairperson of shack dwellers rights group Abahlali baseMjondolo's KwaNdengezi branch, near Pinetown, was gunned down at her home.
The group's Thembani Ngongoma says they're still surprised the ruling party has not suspended the two councillors pending the charges.
Ngongoma believes there's a reason the case is now in the High Court.
"We think its only emerging at least on the side of the poor people is that the case is now at the high court of which we had to fight a big battle for it to be brought to the high court. We expect that the law will take its cause and let justice be done," he said.
