It's called for swift justice for Nyanga and Ward 101 councillor candidate Mkhize.
The canvassers were out on door-to-door campaigns west of Durban when they were gunned down last week - two people were wounded.
The ANC's Nhlakanipho Ntombela says they'll assist police in tracking down the culprits.
He acknowledges that before candidate nominations, there had been some tensions in Cato Crest.
But these have since subsided.
"All the comrades in the area were behind these candidates and they were supporting the ANC election campaign.
"So there were no issues we were aware of; hence our view as the ANC is that let us not cast aspersion at this stage or insinuation, let us allow the police investigation to tell us exactly what happened, whether it is was pure criminality or if it is a party internal matter that police investigation will give us clarity on that matter."
