ANC assures Isithebe residents of proper election process

ANC Chairperson in the Greater KwaDukuza Region, Ricardo Mthembu believes there are individuals deliberately misleading communities there on the process of nominating candidates for the municipal elections.

The north coast town of Isithebe has been the scene of violence which began on Sunday night and saw several factories and trucks torched.
Some residents have been unhappy about the nomination process and also about the recent appointment of an Induna in the area.

Mthembu, who is also the mayor of KwaDukuza Municipality, says despite not being card carrying members - some in the community want to play a bigger role in the selection process.
"We want to say communities must calm down. The ANC is a fair organisation - its processes is a process that ensures that democracy prevails.
"We want to condemn what has happened, we want to say to the owner of the factory - as the ANC - it's not a situation that we want to see.
"Our economy at this stage requires us to be very sensitive at this stage," he said.
