Jacob Zuma will address ANC supporters at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg while Mangosuthu Buthelezi will launch the IFP's manifesto at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi. Political analyst, Imraan Buccus, says the KZN ANC will be addressing its supporters today amid the recent reshuffle and ongoing protests over the party's candidate lists.

"The ANC is going to face the problem where a significant number of its support base may have been demobilised by the leadership change," he said.

"I think the fact that while the ANC Youth League has been the king-maker in a large part of the province, the ascendency of a range of younger people to leadership positions might have the impact of seeing old folk marginalised," Buccus said.

Buccus says most believe that the IFP has been on a downward trajectory, but this is not the case.

"The ease at which some people had written off the IFP in recent years may prove to be wrong and we might actually see the IFP benefit from some of the squabbles we have seen in the ANC and indeed in the NFP," he said.
