Amnesty for Illegally-connected north coast residents
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
KwaDukuza is offering a two-month amnesty to north coast residents who have illegal electricity connections.

They can have them converted to legal connections.
The municipality's Sipho Mkhize says during the grace period, until the end of October, no questions will be asked and no fines issued.
He says the decision to meet residents halfway, was taken at a council meeting.
"We are appealing to everyone to come forward, talk to their councillors, register themselves to this amnesty onto this amnesty database.
"And all they will be liable for is this new metre system that will be installed in their new homes, be it prepaid or conventional. We are willing to continue with you on a clean slate."
Mkhize says those struggling with municipal debt can apply for a payment plan.
