The travel and tourism exhibition will see thousands of delegates flock to Durban to share ideas and trends within the tourism sector. The Indaba is also used to forge and strengthen relationships aimed at making Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and the continent travellers’ destinations of choice.

EThekwini’s Philip Sithole says nearly 7 000 exhibitors including international buyers are expected to make their way to the Durban ICC.

"As far as tourism is concerned this is one of the biggest tourism exhibitions in the world. It is the the biggest in Africa," he said.

"Therefore it is important that it exposes the destination to the global community. It is also important that during Indaba there are jobs that are created which contribute to the economic growth of the city and the province," Sithole said.

"So we achieve quite a lot by hosting this particular event," he said.
