All systems go for Dundee July weekend
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Organisers of the 13th edition of the Dundee July say it is all systems go for this year's annual race.
The event, a spin-off of the Durban July, has grown in popularity over the years and more than 25 000 people are expected to attend today’s festivities. Sports and Recreation HOD, Ntokozo Chonco, says they have managed to iron out several issues and grievances brought up by local businesspeople.
He says they have since ensured that the majority of services such as catering, hospitality and security are supplied by locals.
"We are expecting for the spin-offs to run into millions of Rands. I can confirm that all BnBs and all hotels around Dundee up to Umzinyathi are fully booked because more and more people want to be a part of this racing event", he said.
"We are looking forward to next as we will try speak to some of the local business people to convert their houses into BnBs so as to accommodate more people and generate revenue", Chonco said.
