South Africans have woken up to news of a cabinet reshuffle. President Jacob Zuma played his cards in the dead of night, appointing 10 new ministers and 10 new deputy ministers.

As expected, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas have been axed.
Former Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba is now the new Finance Minister.
Political analyst Karima Brown says we can now expect to see just how powerful the Gupta the family is.
"If you look at the minister who have been replaced, you can see that those are the ones who held the line against that family and their cronies who tried to lead the assault on the Treasury," says Brown.
Brown says she thinks all eyes should be on Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
"If ever there was a time when we needed leadership from him, it is now. People who are opposed to President Jacob Zuma in the ANC are looking to the Deputy President for leadership now," adds Brown.
