Alert for motorists as school holidays end

As holidaymakers make their way back home from the coast today - motorists are being reminded that the smallest actions can impact their safety in a big way.

With schools reopening tomorrow for the third term - some of KZN visitors hit the road yesterday, to make their way home. 

The N3 Toll Concession says it's expecting its heaviest volumes at Mooi River Toll Plaza from midday today.

The Quadpara Association of South Africa's Ari Seirlis says with so many vehicles on the road today, drivers are being asked to be responsible.

"It's been proven that the biggest cause of road crashes is distracted driving - either texting or using the phone while you're driving. So QASA says to motorists - don't text and drive. It's the biggest cause of road crashes and these causes catastrophic injuries and disability," he says.
