The bail application of five of the seven suspects arrested continued on Monday.

The court has been hearing a bid by accused number two, businessman Lindani Ndimande, to be released.

Through an affidavit, he’s revealed he owns four minibus taxis, which bring in a quarter of a million rand a month.

Ndimande has told the court of a long-standing violent feud over a taxi rank between his family and another family.

He’s accused the SAPS’ National Intervention Unit of siding with the rivals and having an agenda against him.

He claims the police unit killed six of his siblings.

The court has further heard that two of his brothers, who are awaiting extradition in eSwatini in relation to this case, fled across the border to seek refuge from the NIU.

The father-of-five says his siblings left KZN after armed NIU members in balaclavas came to their family home looking for him.

Ndimande insists he’s innocent and intends to plead not guilty.
