AIDS 2016: Strategies to finance SA's HIV/Aids response discussed
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
There was a debate last night between the Treatment Action Campaign's Mark Heywood and panellists at the 21st International Aids Conference.
The week-long event is taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.
The panel had been looking at the financing of South Africa's HIV/Aids response.
During the question and answer session, Heywood said he felt the strategies proposed by Robert Hecht from the Results for Development Institute were insufficient.
Hecht responded by saying compared to many other countries, the systems for expenditure reporting and audit in South Africa are among the strongest.
